Cost share
Cost share projects
Installing livestock water systems on conservation cost share contracts in south central Missouri.
- Our role Installation
- Built to NRCS specification
- Covers Pipelines, watering tanks, wells and ponds
- Programs through Your county SWCD or USDA Service Center
Many of the livestock water systems we install are paid for in part through a conservation cost share contract. We have worked on a good number of them, and we are familiar with how these projects run, what the districts expect the finished work to look like, and how to keep an installation on the schedule a contract sets.
The programs themselves are run by your county Soil and Water Conservation District and by the Natural Resources Conservation Service at your local USDA Service Center. Those offices approve the contracts, set the rates, and can tell you what is offered in your county this year. For anything specific to your ground or your situation, start there, and we will work with whatever plan comes out of that conversation.
Where we fit
What we handle is the installation. We build to NRCS specification, because a practice that does not meet the spec becomes the landowner's problem to get fixed, and we would rather it passed the first time. We also hold off on scheduling until you tell us your approval is in hand.
If you are partway through the process and need a number to take to your district, call us with the county, the acreage, and roughly how far the water has to travel.
Your county office
The Soil and Water Conservation District offices for the seven counties we work in. Call the one for the county the ground is in, if that is different from the county you live in. Your local USDA Service Center can be found through the locator at farmers.gov.
